Het TSS ROTTERDAM V
De Rotterdam was bij haar in dienststelling een opmerkelijk schip.
Zij was het eerste Trans Atlantisch passagiersschip zonder schoorstenen,
maar met twee uitlaten. Het eerste passagiersschip met een horizontale klasse verdeling.
Het trappenhuis was zo ontworpen dat elke klasse er gebruik van kon maken,
zonder dat zij elkaar zouden tegen komen.
Tijdens cruises konden in het trappenhuis deuren worden opengeschoven,
zodat het schip 1 klasse werd.
Passagiers konden dan makkelijk gebruik maken van de gehele accommodatie.
The TSS ROTTERDAM V
Entering service the TSS ROTTERDAM was a remarkable vessel.
The first Atlantic Liner using exhaust pipes instate of the usual smoke stacks.
The layout of the public rooms and accommodation decks was horizontal. In this way,
each class have there own full decks of lounges, bars, restaurants and cabins.
Divided by ingenious designed stairwells elevators,
each class could move from deck to deck without mingling.
During cruises doors where opened and the whole ship became a 1 class vessel.
